Top 10 Relaxation Tips

In today's fast-paced environment, it is more important than ever to take care of yourself each and every day. It's easy to get caught up in the day-to-day activities and demands of your life. Demands for your time, your attention and your emotions take a toll on your spirit and body. Below are a few ways that will help you relax and renew yourself.

1. Exercise
An exercise routine may be the simplest and best choice to help you relax. It promotes the production of endorphins which "feel good" and help keep your mood elevated. Walk – this gentle exercise takes you outdoors. Go with a friend if possible.

2. Keep a journal
This is a tried and true method for helping you focus on the important things in your life. Writing down each day, a list of things that you are grateful for will keep those thing top of mind and bring them into your daily routine.

3. Meditate – Deep breathing
The benefits of mediation have been proven and offer you a realistic way of relaxing and recharging.

4. Good nutrition is a must every day.
Vitamins, three square meals a day (including breakfast) are just some of the ways that you can be sure you are taking care of yourself and able to relax because you have peace of mind that you are caring for yourself. For some, eating more often, smaller meals (such as 5 or 6 a day) is a better choice for maintaining well being. Which ever you choose, be sure that you are getting what you need to care for yourself.

5. Connect with friends and family often
In today's digitally connected world, it is easier than ever to connect to others. Whether by phone, email or online chat groups, you can connect to others and feel a strong sense of connectedness.

6. Go to the movies or just visit with someone who cares about you.
Being in the company of someone who cares about you will aid in your self-care.

7. Renew your religious or spiritual side
For many, this is the single most important focus that has seen them through a personal crisis. There are many ways to express your beliefs. Pick the one that is right for you and begin to focus on the spiritual each day. The ways that comfort shows up will amaze you.

8. Join a support group that addresses your particular need.
Being with like-minded people will give you a sense of belonging to something bigger than yourself. In today's online world, there is a group for just about every need there is. If you can't find a group that meets your needs, start one! Need help with online groups, go to www.youtube.com for some excellent videos that show you the steps necessary to start a group on sites such as Goggle or Yahoo.

9. Plan a vacation that is different from past vacations. Ideas include yoga or spa vacations, etc. If you can't take a vacation, be sure to set time aside regularly to experiences this type of self-care. Body comfort – a massage, a facial, or a hike in the woods if you are so inclined to be out in nature.

10. Go out to dinner with friends
